For many users, Internet search engines provide a gateway to the World Wide Web. But how do search engines find and categorize a Web page?
The answer lies in document Meta tags, which are contained in a document's HTML code. For example, the keywords Meta tag can contain subject keywords related to your Web page. These keywords are used by some search engines as a way of cataloguing your Web page - so if you want to be found on the Internet, be sure to include comprehensive keywords and document information in the Meta tags of your page.
In addition to assisting search engines to index a page, Meta tags also allow a page to perform tricks such as automatically loading a second page after a set period of time (redirection).
